Past Rotary International President, Royce Abbey

The Royce Abbey Award is made to a member who is relatively new to the Club, and who demonstrates commitment, enthusiasm and outstanding commitment to the Ideals of Rotary. This award, established by the Rotary Club of Essendon to recognise their member and our Honorary Member and Past RI President Royce Abbey, includes a club contribution of $1,000 to the Rotary Foundation (in the Royce and Jean Abbey Endowment Fund). This financial contribution is used for humanitarian projects and to enhance agricultural scholarships in developing countries in the Asia-Pacific region.

Andrew Morrice

Citation

Andrew Morrice was inducted on 27 November 2024 under the classification CEO - INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY.

As a recently retired CEO of Rutledge AV, Australia’s largest audio-visual systems integration business, Andrew brought to Rotary a distinguished career in technology, software and leadership. His work in complex software solutions supported major Defence programs, including the Joint Strike Fighter and Wedgetail Airborne Early Warning and Control projects.

Since joining the Club, Andrew has embraced Rotary with enthusiasm and purpose. An active member of the Kew–North Balwyn fellowship group, he serves on the Technology Committee and chairs the Community Health & Ageing Committee.  He also volunteers each week at Donations in Kind, where he is applying his expertise to strengthen systems and improve the management of exported goods.

Andrew has truly embodied Royce Abbey’s challenge to “Put Life into Rotary – Your Life.” He hit the ground running, bringing energy, commitment and a genuine desire to serve. A valued lunch companion and dedicated Rotarian, he has made a remarkable start to what promises to be a long and rewarding Rotary journey, supporting communities both locally and around the world.

For his impactful service, we are proud to present Andrew Morrice with the 2026 Royce Abbey Award.
