Sambun Monthly Email in July 2026

Hello Everyone,

I trust you are staying healthy!

Greetings from Siem Reap City! It is my pleasure to keep updating you through my monthly email. To begin with my education, I would like to share about my French class. I have now finished the first course and am continuing with a new term. Day by day, I can see my progress in learning this language. Even though we have classes only three days per week, I have gained more knowledge and improved my basic speaking skills and vocabulary. In every class, we review all the previous lessons by playing fun games, which helps us remember the lessons more easily. Currently, I can remember and use some basic sentences for talking about daily habits, asking for directions, and especially knowing French numbers for asking about costs and prices when having conversations in the market or negotiating something in French. Of course, I am currently studying three languages: English, Chinese, and French, which makes my progress slower. However, I believe that with regular and proper teaching from our professional teachers, together with my consistent daily review, I will continue to improve and be able to use these languages better and better one day.

It is my honor to share with you, on behalf of a representative of the Community Service Department shortly called CS, that in late June and early July we conducted two meaningful activities impacting families in need in our community. The first activity was a house repair activity. We saw the challenges faced by an elderly family, Grandma Chien, who also receives monthly food support from our NGO. Once we updated the report while visiting her, we found some of her difficult living conditions. The rooftop of her house was leaking. Therefore, we received kind approval from our founders and gathered 16 participants to replace the old zinc sheets with new ones during a half-day activity. Fortunately, Grandma Chien's house was repaired immediately, and she was sincerely grateful for the generous support that we have been providing so far. Moreover, on July 4th and 5th, CS implemented a house-building activity efficiently and successfully. Mrs. Run Sarout's family was the family for whom we built a new house. This provides them with a great shelter that is more comfortable and safer, protecting them from the wind and rain, and the children can pursue and continue their studies in a better place. These huge accomplishments were created by all CRST students who actively participated, their dedication to helping the community, and their willingness to make sustainable development in our society.

As a member of the Rotaract Club of Siem Reap, I also joined various activities, as well as exchanging books in our small street library and buying books from bookstores to ensure good preparation for our upcoming reading campaign. It was my pleasure to visit my hometown to exchange new books for the children there, a place that is full of memories and reminds me of my childhood, where I rode a broken bike and tried to find free opportunities to study English by traveling from one village to another. By the way, I am one of the children who can now contribute back to the place that really needs support, even though I am still a student pursuing my education. I hope that all the books in the small village street libraries will be read and that the children and local people can gain knowledge and conduct research through these books. I also hope they will inspire others to believe in the value of reading and education.

That's all for my monthly update. Thank you very much for your time and ongoing support. I hope you enjoy the photos and the PDF file attached below.

Kind regards,

Sambun
