Arshad Samsudeen (Arshad) was inducted into the Club on 29 July 2026 with the classification Finance - Accounting.
Arshad was born in Colombo, Sri Lanka, and was educated at St Mary’s College. He subsequently completed his professional qualifications with the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) and CPA Australia.
Following completion of his CIMA qualification, Arshad began his career gaining extensive experience across audit, accounting, finance and corporate investment banking. Over almost two decades in the international banking and finance industry, he held a variety of roles with the HSBC Group in Sri
Lanka.
After migrating to Australia in 2017, Arshad continued his career in the financial services sector, working with Apex Group and MUFG Group. He currently works with the BNP Paribas Group as a Senior Fund Accountant, based at the BNP Paribas Melbourne office at 101 Collins Street.
Arshad has been actively involved in Rotary since 2021. He was previously a member of the Rotary Club of Rowville-Lysterfield, where he served in various roles, before transferring to the Rotary Club of Melbourne. He also contributed to the 2023 Rotary International Convention in Melbourne, serving on the Finance Committee.
Outside his professional and Rotary commitments, Arshad enjoys spending time with his wife,
Thameena Zarani, who works with National Australia Bank as Head of Digital (Acting). Together, they
enjoy travelling throughout Australia and overseas and experiencing different cultures and
destinations.
Arshad is also a co-founder of the Sri-Lanka Scholarship Fund Australia Inc., a not-for-profit incorporated association based in Victoria dedicated to supporting inclusive education for deserving students. He currently serves as the organisation's Treasurer, contributing his financial expertise to its
work supporting educational opportunities.
Arshad is a member of the Malvern Fellowship Group and will serve on the Finance – Accounting
Group of the Rotary Club of Melbourne.
