Sambun Monthly Email in June 2026

Hello Everyone,

I trust you are staying healthy!

Greetings from Siem Reap City, and it is my pleasure to keep updating you through my monthly email. This month, I would like to update you about my education at university and some of the volunteer activities that I have recently joined through CRST. To update you on my education, I finished my midterm examinations in three subjects: Khmer Studies, English I, and Theories of International Relations. I have been doing well in these classes as I have group discussions with my classmates, and some of them always share lessons and conduct research together. We are about to finish the semester and take our final exams. The professors have asked us to do research with case studies and have also provided us with review questions to ensure that we are ready for the upcoming exams.

This month, I joined various volunteer activities in our NGO, including participating as a PG Educator and a tuk-tuk driver in Family Support activities. I joined the FS team members and some of our students to visit elderly people and poor families in rural areas. I am grateful to be a part of these activities because, even though I am just a student, I have the great opportunity to support my community, which helps create a meaningful and positive impact in Cambodia. More importantly, I joined PG activities at Paul Dubrule School and once in Stung Treng Province. I was delighted to share PG lessons with Paul Dubrule students in Siem Reap City and, particularly, to educate students at a secondary school in Stung Treng Province. Reflecting on these activities, I had an unforgettable experience outside Siem Reap and was able to share important PG lessons through and my own experiences as a poor rural student who has received many opportunities to pursue higher education. One more activity that impacted children in rural schools was my participation in Project B Bicycles for Education. We fixed and repaired broken bicycles for students who use bikes as their transportation to school. It was a meaningful weekend for me to see many children smiling with hope as they received repaired bicycles to continue pursuing their education. This activity made me feel grateful and reminded me of my childhood. I always rode a broken bicycle to school until high school, which was quite far from my home. Yet, I never gave up and attended classes regularly despite the challenges.

Lastly, besides sharing about my education and volunteer work, I would also like to share about my football training with students in our NGO. We train together once a week, and these sessions have become an important part of my routine. Football not only helps me stay physically active and healthy but also strengthens friendships among students. Through teamwork, communication, and mutual support on the field. Playing football also helps me reduce stress and maintain a positive mindset, especially during busy academic periods.

Looking back on this month, I feel grateful for the opportunities I have received through education and volunteer service. Each experience helps me grow as a student and as a member of my community. I continue to learn the importance of responsibility, leadership, and helping others, and I am committed to using these lessons to create a positive impact wherever I can.

Last but not least, I would like to sincerely thank you for your generous support and for taking the time to read my monthly update. I hope you enjoy some of the photos attached below. I look forward to updating you more about my education and volunteer activities that create a positive impact on the community.

Kind regards,

Sambun
